PDP dispels report of Court stopping Obaseki from participating in party primary election

Following the internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the defection of Godwin Obaseki, Edo state governor, in tandem with his whole acceptance by the majority of his party’s stakeholders, an aspirant, Kenneth Imasuangbon, who had vowed never to step down for Obaseki has finally succumbed, clearing the political ground for the amiable governor.

This is coming ours to the party’s delegate election. About 2, 229 party delegates stormed the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City in the early hours of Thursday to settle the political rift between Obaseki and Imasuangbon and were astonished when the later stepped down for the former.

Recall that Engr. Gideon Ikhine and Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama had earlier let go of their aspirations in support of Obaseki.

Speaking on Edo political trajectories, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, commended the party, noting that he would desire to see other political party emulate what his party did in Edo.

His words, “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been an example of the order and constitutionality needed to sustain genuine democracy in Nigeria.

“I pray that the order, discipline and constitutionality, which we, as a party have exemplified, should guide institutions of our democracy, especially other political parties. Without law and order in a party, a party cannot provide law and order to Nigeria.”
