
Barely a week in the kidnappers’ den, the abducted passengers of the Benue State Transport Company, popularly known as Benue Links, have been released.
The Benue Links bus which left Abeokuta in Ogun State and en route Makurdi was intercepted at Eke in Okpokwu Local Government Area of the state around 6:30 pm last Sunday, June, 22, 2025.
The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, claimed that the combined security operatives including drones were deployed to rescue the abducted passengers.
However, sources said the kidnapped passengers were released on Sunday afternoon barely seven days after their abduction.

In addition, it was gathered that the passengers were received at the Okpokwu Divisional Police Station while two of those who were said to be in critical condition were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical care.
