Media entrepreneur and former Senator representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce, has predicted that Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, may one day occupy the seat of Governor of Osun State.
Speaking during a recent episode of his Common Sense series, Ben Murray-Bruce praised Davido’s influence as a global artiste
Also, he highlighted his strong political lineage and latent interest in governance.
“David Adeleke, the global phenomenon better known as Davido, is undeniably one of Nigeria’s most valuable cultural exports,” he said.
“But beyond his musical acclaim lies a side that many may not know — he is a political animal, deeply opinionated with a defined ideology.”
Murray-Bruce explained that this revelation stemmed from a private conversation with the singer and aligns with the political legacy of the Adeleke family.
Davido’s uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current Governor of Osun State.
Also, another uncle, the late Isiaka Adeleke, also held the gubernatorial office during the Ibrahim Babangida administration.
“Given the Adeleke DNA and his own political inclination, it is not far-fetched to imagine Davido one day contesting for the governorship of Osun State. If nurtured properly, his ambition could materialise,” Murray-Bruce added.
He further encouraged the involvement of entertainers in politics.
Also, he noted that their widespread appeal and ability to connect with youth and diverse demographics could introduce fresh perspectives.
“There is a growing call for more entertainers to step into governance. Davido, if you run, I predict you will win,” the senator concluded.
Davido is known for hit songs and philanthropic initiatives, has often used his platform to comment on political and social issues.
