Bayern Munich are hoping to land Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz for a cut-price fee, but Real Madrid are also interested in the rising star.
According to journalist Maximilian Koch, Wirtz is ‘very popular’ with figureheads at Bayern – but Leverkusen will want to hold onto the 21-year-old.
He adds the defending Bundesliga champions value the Los Blancos target at £125 million ($167m) but the German international may be available for £83.5m ($111.35m) next summer.
Wirtz, whose contract runs until 2027, had a breakout season in 2023-24 and scored 18 goals and bagged 20 assists along the way.
He played a key role in Leverkusen’s league and cup double and keeping onto him for the long-term will be key to their future success.
The German himself said he was happy at Xabi Alonso’s team earlier this year but whether he will still be at the club for 2025-26 remains to be seen.
Attacking midfielder Wirtz – who joined Leverkusen from FC Koln in 2020 – has enjoyed an excellent start to the new season, scoring six goals and notching one assist in just seven matches in all competitions.

Wirtz will face off against Bayern in a heavyweight Bundesliga clash on Saturday evening.
Alonso’s team are three points behind the Bavarians after four games and will hope to close the gap on Vincent Kompany’s in-form side.
