Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has achieved a groundbreaking milestone on global streaming platform Spotify.
The singer becomes the first African female artiste to surpass 5 million followers on the platform.
Starr came to the spotlight following her hit single “Rush”, and since then, the Mavin Records star continues to make waves internationally.
This recent achievement places her at the forefront of female African music acts on Spotify in terms of follower count.
While Ayra Starr now holds the record for the most-followed African female artiste, she still follows Tems in terms of overall streaming numbers.
Ayra has amassed a total of 2.7 billion streams across all credits, while Tems leads with 3.8 billion.
Among Ayra’s catalogue, her most-streamed track to date is “Santa”, a fan favourite that has racked up over 707 million streams.
