
An Anambra traditional titleholder and community leader, Chief Augustine Ezedinachi (Ogbuefi Ozo Nnanyelugo) in the Nimo community in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, has been killed by suspected kidnappers after collecting ₦15m ransom.
Ezedinachi, popularly known as High Chief Gbafankiti na Nimo, was a retired Chevron contractor and member of the prestigious Nimo Royal Cabinet.
The deceased retired from active service and decided to settle in the village, where he ventured into farming and livestock.
Ezesinachi was abducted from his farm behind St. Michael’s Secondary School, Nimo, by masked gunmen on June 19, 2025.
According to eyewitness accounts, the kidnappers stormed the farm and whisked the victim away to an unknown destination at gunpoint.
The abductors later contacted the family using the victim’s phone to demand an undisclosed ransom.
Despite the reported payment of a ₦15 million ransom, the abductors killed him and dumped his body on the same farmland.

His lifeless body with deep machete cuts to the head has been recovered from the scene.
