Frankie Beverly, the legendary American singer, songwriter, and producer, has passed away at the age of 77.
The R&B icon, best known for leading the soul and funk band Maze, died on Tuesday.
He left behind a rich legacy of timeless music that has influenced generations of artists and music lovers alike.
Beverly’s family announced the heartbreaking news on the official Instagram account of Frankie Beverly and Maze on Wednesday.
During this time, as we are navigating feelings of sorrow, reflection, and remembrance, we ask for privacy and understanding, allowing us the space to grieve in our own way,” the family wrote.
They expressed gratitude for the support and emphasised the need for solitude during this period of healing.
“This period is one of healing, and your respect for our need for solitude is appreciated as we honor the memory of our beloved Howard Stanley Beverly, known to the world as Frankie Beverly,” the family statement read.

Howard Stanley “Frankie” Beverly began his career in music at a young age, singing in local doo-wop groups during the 1950s.
