The Nigerian government is taking its digitisation drive to another level. Now, it wants all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) within the civil service to fully digitise their operations and phase out paper-based processes by December 31, 2025.
This development was conveyed in a statement issued by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs Didi Walson-Jack.
It was made during a world press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
Most importantly, this is ahead of the 2025 International Civil Service Week and African Public Service Day, scheduled for June 25–26.
Walson-Jack emphasised that this digital shift was a central objective of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP 25). This it will conclude at the end of the year.
Also, the plan prioritises digital transformation and improved performance management.
Furthermore, she noted that the Office of the HCSF had achieved paperless operations prior to her assumption of office.
“We are accelerating the digitalisation process, one of the core pillars of FCSSIP 25,” she said.
“This is not merely an instruction—we’ve already implemented it in our office. Now, we expect all MDAs to follow suit.”
According to her, the push toward a paperless civil service is gaining momentum.
She is confident that the government will achieve the goal by the December 2025 deadline.
