Alec Baldwin’s controversial Western film ‘Rust’ is set to premiere next month at the EnergaCamerimage international cinematography festival in Toruń, Poland.
The premiere will be followed by a panel featuring director Joel Souza, who was injured during the 2021 on-set gun accident in New Mexico.
Cinematographer Bianca Cline, who finished the movie, and Stephen Lighthill, mentor of the late Halyna Hutchins, will also join the discussion.
The panel will discuss the film’s completion, on-set safety, and the role of women in cinematography.
The film “Rust” has been surrounded by controversy due to the tragic on-set shooting incident in 2021.
During filming in New Mexico, a prop gun handled by Alec Baldwin discharged a live round, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.
This incident raised serious concerns about on-set safety and led to investigations by authorities, including the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI.
