Akwa Ibom is inviting private investors to set up refilling depots for CNG buses.
Governor Umo Eno highlighted the need for this infrastructure to reduce transportation costs during the state’s 37th anniversary broadcast.
He called for unity and collaboration to improve life for residents.
In a significant move for public transportation, the Akwa Ibom government is on the lookout for private investors to establish refilling depots for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses.
This initiative, announced by Governor Umo Eno, aims to cut transportation costs for residents and make public transit more efficient.
Meanwhile, During a broadcast celebrating the state’s 37th anniversary, Governor Eno stressed the importance of infrastructure.
“Operating CNG buses without refilling depots counters productivity,” he stated.
He emphasized the need for partners to make this vision a reality.
“Once we secure this, we will launch the program.
Buying CNG buses without the necessary infrastructure defeats the purpose,” he added.
Plans Of Fighting Poverty In Akwa Ibom
In addition, to the CNG initiative, Governor Eno addressed fuel price concerns.

He warned petrol station owners against charging above government-approved prices and announced plans to create a Task Force to tackle this issue.
Also, the governor highlighted his administration’s efforts to improve the lives of citizens through various programs and infrastructure projects.
He noted that his government already offset ₦31 billion in inherited gratuities and remains committed to continuing this effort.
“Nearly a year and a half into our administration, we have built solid fundamentals for our growth,” he said.
Drawing inspiration from former U.S. President Lyndon Baines Johnson, who invested in people, he reaffirmed his dedication to uplifting citizens and fighting poverty.
Governor Eno outlined plans to enhance education, healthcare, and security while promoting peace and expanding infrastructure.
He called on residents to stay united, treat one another with respect, and support those in need during challenging times.
“Politics and ethnicity should not divide us. Let our shared spirit bind us together,” he concluded, reaffirming his commitment to peace and humility in governance.
