Senate President, Godswill Akpabio

While Nigerians were trying to cope with the unbearable hardship or ‘Temporary Pain’ as many describe it, that was when the senate president seized the opportunity to share his advise to Nigerians.

Akpabio said he understands vividly the situation of things in the country.

The former governor of Akwa Ibom did not stop there, he advised Nigerians to help themselves by seizing every opportunity to eat any free food available.

In a viral video that surfaced on Sunday, and monitored by this platform, Akpabio said: “Times are difficult, and wherever you see free food, please endeavour to avail yourself.”

Perhaps, Akpabio may have made the statement a some form of comic relief during the plenary as it elicited laughter from fellow senators.

However, for Nigerians who are at the receiving end, feeling the heavy effects of the many policies of the Bola Tinubu administration, Akpabio’s statement did not settle well with them.

As we speak the social media space is boiling with reactions as Nigerians take to their various handles to drag the senate president.

This is not the first time Akpabio is making such unguarded statement, in fact, it is slowly becoming his style.

In July, Akpabio addressed the Niger Delta ethnic nationalities, youths, and women group conference in Port Harcourt.

At the event, Akpabio mocked Nigerians planning the #EndBadGovernance protest in August.

His words: “Those who want to protest can protest, but let us be here eating.”
