Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade has opened up about her personal journey, sharing honest thoughts on love, self-worth, and the things that truly keep a relationship going.
Looking back at her younger years, Adunni said she was often praised for her beauty. People admired her, complimented her, and expected that her looks would be enough to secure lasting love. But that wasn’t the case.
“I was always in the spotlight admired, desired, talked about. My looks opened doors,” she said. “But despite all that, I’m still unmarried.”
Adunni made it clear that being single doesn’t mean she failed. Instead, she believes it proves an important truth: beauty may attract someone, but it’s not enough to make them stay.
“Many were drawn to the outside, not what’s inside. They wanted the glow, not the depth,” she said. “I came to realise that being beautiful isn’t enough.”
She encouraged women not to focus only on looks, but to also build their minds and character. She said it’s important to be whole and complete as a person, with or without a relationship.
“Know who you are. Build values. Be complete on your own. Marriage will come when the time is right, but don’t base your worth on beauty alone,” she said.
Her message is clear and powerful—while beauty may catch someone’s attention, it’s your inner strength, character, and purpose that truly keep love alive.
“Life demands more than looks. Work on yourself, grow, be the kind of woman that doesn’t just turn heads. Because in the end, beauty fades, but character stays.”
