What was supposed to be a scripted scene in a Nollywood production quickly turned into a real-life medical emergency, leaving actor Godwin Nnadiekwe hospitalised and fans in shock.
The incident took place on a movie set where Godwin’s colleague, popular actor Zubby Michael, allegedly delivered an unscripted and unprompted kick to his chest.
According to Godwin Nnadiekwe , the blow was not part of the scene nor approved by the director.
Unfortunately, it resulted in internal injuries that required urgent medical attention.
Taking to Instagram, the actor detailed the ordeal, clarifying that he wasn’t calling out Zubby Michael out of malice but wanted to spotlight the critical issue of safety or lack thereof on Nigerian movie sets.
“During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague. It wasn’t in the script. It caused me serious pain. I had to seek treatment for my chest—all by myself, with no support,” he shared.
The actor emphasised how dangerous unscripted physical actions can be, especially in an industry where actors often work without health insurance or on-set medical care.
“What if something worse had happened? We need to take set safety seriously,” he added, urging filmmakers and actors alike to prioritise professionalism and well-being.
Godwin’s management later confirmed the actor was being treated for internal bleeding and is in stable condition.
