Former Super Eagles winger and Ajax legend, Finidi George has been rated the third-best player at the 1994 World Cup hosted by the United States by data companies, Sofascore and Opta.
Recall that Finidi, the current assistant coach of the Super Eagles, was a key player in Nigeria’s historic first-ever appearance at the world championship of football. Nigeria took the world by storm.
Nigeria, the defending African champions, shocked many by winning their group, which also included Argentina, Bulgaria, and Greece.

The three-time African champions opened their campaign with a win against Bulgaria with late Rashidi Yekini scoring the country’s first-ever goal at the World Cup courtesy of a fine assist from Finidi.
According to a statistic provided by reputable data providers, Finidi’s achievements earned him a rating of 7.88, which was the third-best in the competition.
At USA ’94, Finidi was ranked higher than just the Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi (8.00) and the Swedish legend Kennet Andersson (7.89).
The iconic Brazilian captain Dunga (7.84) and French ace Florin Raducioiu (7.88) rounded out the top five.
