De Gea participated in every minute of the 2018 World Cup, but because Enrique has chosen to utilize younger players, DeGea  has found himself falling down the pecking order. Thiago of Liverpool and Sergio Ramos, who is currently playing for PSG, are not included in the 26 man squad.

Reds star Thiago also missed out, with the midfielder not featuring for his country since Euro 2020 last summer, despite excelling for Liverpool.

There were places for five Premier League stars in Cesar Azpilicueta, Aymeric Laporte and Rodri, while Brentford and Brighton goalkeepers David Raya and Robert Sanchez were also picked.

Real Madrid and Barcelona veterans Dani Carvajal and Jordi Alba respectively were preferred, while former Man City defender Eric Garcia was also in.

The midfield was a mix of experience and youth, with Sergio Busquets picked along with Koke, while Barcelona’s star youngsters Gavi and Pedri were in the final 26.
