Coronavirus: FG shuts down Panda Supermarket in Abuja

Following the outbreak of the epidermic, Coronavirus, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC has shut down Panda Supermarket located at Jabi, Abuja.
The move according to the agency, is a preventive measure in avoidance of spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
FCCPC is the apex consumer protection agency in Nigeria.
Coronavirus, a virus similar to the SARS pathogen has claimed 132 lives since emerging in a market in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, and spread around the world.
However, the People’s Republic of China yesterday, opened it first Coronavirus hospital in a city near Wuhan after workers and volunteers spent just two days converting an empty building to a 1,000-bed emergency facility.
iBrandTV gathered that, the first batch of coronavirus patients were transferred to the Dabie Mountain Regional Medical Centre at around 10:30pm local time Tuesday.
The project was complete within 48 hours thanks to the joint effort of staff from construction firms, utility companies and paramilitary police officers, the city’s authority said.
Meanwhile, no case of Coronavirus has been established in Nigeria.
Jabi District is in the phase 2 development plan of Abuja, the Federal capital city of Nigeria. It is mainly a residential area.
The commission on its official Twitter handle, @fccpcnigeria, noted that it discovered seafood and animals imported illegally from China in the store.
It also added that it discovered products with expired and irregular shelf life.
FCCPC inspected Panda Supermarket; Jabi on authoritative reports that it had a concealed area for Asian nationals.
They alleged that the supermarket have seafood and animals imported illegally from China discovered.
It was also gathered that, products with expired and irregular shelf life were also discovered at Panda Supermarket.
“Regulatory activities to remove all offensive products from the Supermarket continues,” the agency posted on Twitter handle.
When iBrandTV contacted the management of the Supermarket, they declined to comment.
