The Nigerian Air Force wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos was on Thursday flooded with military officials adorned in their full military regalia.
It was indeed a sight to behold.
Many may not see this as a special event but for the officers of the Nigerian Army receiving the remains of their late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, was no small event.
Soldiers from the Guards Brigade gathered to honor the fallen General as his remains arrived precisely at 9 a.m., prepared to pay their final respects.
The body of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, is set to be flown to Abuja today as the clock ticks for his funeral.
Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, who passed away earlier this week, is remembered as a committed leader whose tenure was marked by significant strides in military operations and the welfare of soldiers.

The body will be transported from the military hospital in Lagos to Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
There, a brief, solemn ceremony will be held to honour his legacy.
The body will then be flown to Abuja, where official observances and private funeral rites will precede his final interment.
It is indeed a day of mourning.
As we speak, the internet is flooded with tributes.
