Burna Boy’s sixth album, Love, Damini, has officially sold 500,000 units in the United States, earning it an RIAA Gold plaque.
Released in 2022, the album solidified Burna Boy’s status as one of Africa’s most significant musical exports.
The album features notable hit records, including Last Last, which spent several weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 44.
Additionally, the track For My Hand, featuring Grammy-winning British artist Ed Sheeran, alongside guest appearances from J Hus, J Balvin, and Khalid, contributed to its international acclaim.
With this achievement, Love, Damini joins the ranks of Wizkid’s Made In Lagos, Rema’s Raves & Roses (Ultra), and Tems’ For Broken Ears as Nigerian albums with RIAA Gold certification.
All four albums share the commonality of housing hit records that enjoyed substantial success on the Billboard Hot 100.
Wizkid’s Made In Lagos featured the hit remix of Essence, featuring Tems and Justin Bieber, which peaked at No. 9. Rema’s Raves & Roses (Ultra) included the global sensation Calm Down with Selena Gomez, reaching a record-setting No. 3. Tems’ For Broken Ears boasted the smash hit Free Mind, which also spent multiple weeks on the chart.
