Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Wizkid, born Balogun Ayodeji, has once again set a new benchmark in the music industry.
He becomes the Nigerian artist with the most RIAA certifications in the United States.
Wizkid recently earned another gold certification for his hit song “Soco,”.
This marks Wizkid eighth certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
“Soco,” released under Wizkid’s Starboy label, features artists Ceeza Milli, Spotless, and Terri.
The song became an instant hit that helped launch the careers of these promising talents.
The track, which resonated deeply with fans globally, has now sold over 500,000 units in the US. Beyond its success stateside.
“Soco” is also certified silver in the UK and has achieved gold status in both France and Canada.
Wizkid’s growing list of accolades includes multiple RIAA certifications for songs that have dominated the charts and defined Afrobeats on a global scale.
Meanwhile, his previous certifications include the groundbreaking hit “Essence” featuring Tems, which went 4x platinum, and his dancehall-infused track “Come Closer” featuring Drake.
