The Department of the State Service, DSS, Monday denied media report that it arrested the acting Chairmen of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu.

Recall that Magu was invited by panelists for interrogation over allegations leveled against him by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

Malami had weeks ago, advised President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Magu over alleged corruption act. In view of that group of Panelists summoned Magu for interrogation, which many media interpreted as arrest.

Having seen the report making the rounds in the media, the Public Relations Officer of the service, Peter Afunanya, said, “The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim MAGU, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as has been reported by sections of the media.

“The Service, has since, today, 6th July, 2020, been inundated with enquiries over the alleged arrest.”
