UEFA Champions League, Europa return date confirmed

Following the postponement of football matches across the globe occasioned by the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Union of European Football Associations, UEFA, has finally released a new date for the 2019/2020 UEFA Champions League fixture.

Although, there have been several concerns ranging from the nullification of the 2019/2020 competition to returning the cup to the previous winners. However, the administrative body for association football have finally come up with the decision to continue the tournament.

The UEFA Champions League match between Cristiano Ronaldo Juventus is the only match which its date and venue have been confirmed.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has said his side will play the Return Leg of the Round of 16 between his Club against Cristiano Ronaldo side Juventus, at the Allianz Arena on the 7th of August 2020, behind closed doors in Turin.

The Ligue 1 Club has a 1-0 lead in the first leg tie in France in February but the return leg was halted due to the global pandemic which hit Italy hard.

“The game against Juventus is confirmed for Friday, August 7 in Turin and behind closed doors.

“The crisis represents a loss of 900 million euros for French football, It could affect us for life. I don’t know who can survive this,” Lyon President.

UEFA has just released the remaining part of the season’s fixtures draft, for both Champions League and UEFA Europa League.
