OPEC+ approved another oil production increase as tensions and supply disruptions intensified across the Middle East.

OPEC+ Output Increase
On Sunday, the alliance announced plans to raise output targets by 188,000 barrels daily from July 2026.
Consequently, the increase marked the fourth straight monthly rise as OPEC+ gradually reversed voluntary cuts introduced during 2023.
Middle East Supply Crisis
However, worsening tensions between the United States and Iran complicated global oil supply conditions.
The conflict disrupted crude shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, while the crisis threatened one of the world’s busiest oil routes.
Meanwhile, several Gulf producers struggled with exports and supply deliveries because logistical and operational challenges persisted across the region.

Although OPEC+ raised production quotas, member countries still produced below official targets.
According to OPEC data, producers averaged 33.19 million barrels daily during April, compared with 42.77 million barrels during February.
Volatile Global Oil Market
Additionally, the alliance promised to monitor market conditions closely while maintaining production flexibility.
OPEC+ also explained that member countries could increase, pause, or reverse output adjustments whenever market conditions changed.
At the same time, Brent crude prices remained volatile throughout the crisis.
Prices surged after the conflict began before easing slightly as traders expected limited regional escalation.
Currently, OPEC+ continues reversing a combined 1.65 million barrels daily voluntary production cut introduced during 2023 while attempting to stabilise global oil markets.
