Reality TV star Josephine Ijioma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has denied claims that she is yet to receive the ₦100 million grand prize she won at the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show in 2022.

Phyna had called out the show’s organisers in 2023, alleging that not all the prizes due to her had been released.
Following a series of public statements from both her team and the BBNaija organisers, the issue faded from public attention, leading fans to assume it had been resolved.
However, the controversy resurfaced after a video allegedly showing Phyna claiming she had not received her prize money began trending online.
Reacting during a recent livestream on Twitch, Phyna said the video was deliberately edited to misrepresent her words.
Phyna explained that she never stated she had not received the ₦100 million prize, but was responding to people who mocked her for becoming a streamer years after winning the reality show.
“They keep cutting my video. I never said I have not received my ₦100 million. I was only talking to people who asked me if the ₦100 million has finished,” she said.
According to Phyna, the misleading clip almost sparked a legal dispute between her and the BBNaija organisers, who were displeased by the impression that she claimed her prize had not been paid.
She said she had to clarify the situation to them and advised that the full Twitch video be reviewed for context.
Phyna also warned bloggers against editing her videos to twist her statements, stating that she would not hesitate to take legal action if such actions lead to any legal issues for her in the future.
