Veteran Nigerian entertainer and social activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charley Boy or Area Fada, has shared candid insights into the realities behind his over 46-year-long marriage, stressing that it has survived not because of perfection, but deliberate effort and constant management.

In a reflective post, Charley Boy debunked the popular belief that long-lasting marriages are driven solely by intense love or destiny.
He revealed that many people assume he and his wife are “stupidly in love,” without understanding the hard work that sustains their union.
According to him, no marriage is “made in heaven,” noting that successful relationships are built on earth through commitment, patience, and continuous effort.
He described marriage as fragile, explaining that it can easily crack if not carefully nurtured.
The veteran entertainer further admitted that there are moments when he does not “feel it” anymore, but chooses to keep pushing regardless.
He emphasised that managing challenges and staying committed, even during difficult periods, is key to longevity.
Charley Boy added that despite public perception, his marriage is not free of problems, but he and his wife have consciously decided to stay together and work things out.
