Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star Davido has formally announced his decision to join the Accord Party.
He mirrors the political move recently taken by his uncle and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
The singer made the announcement via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account.
He discloses plans to visit Imole House in Osogbo to collect his Accord Party membership card.
“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @ IMOLE HOUSE OSOGBO tomorrow… see you soon ACCORDINGLY,” Davido wrote, tagging Governor Adeleke.
Davido’s declaration comes barely two weeks after Governor Adeleke officially unveiled the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The governor had earlier confirmed his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Also, this attributes the move to an ongoing leadership crisis within the party at the national level.
Speaking on his decision, Adeleke stated that he joined the Accord Party on November 6 following extensive consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.
