Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has revealed that she is not in a hurry to remarry, describing marriage as “overrated.”

Speaking during a recent interview on Naija FM, the actress explained that many relationships remain stable for years while dating but begin to experience challenges once marriage and its expectations come into play.
According to her, she has witnessed couples date for as long as 15 to 17 years without issues, only to separate after two or three years of marriage.
This, she noted, often raises the question of whether marriage was necessary in the first place.
Yvonne said she is not completely ruling out marriage but has learned not to force it or make it the centre of her happiness.
“If it comes, it comes. I’m not looking for it. I have learned not to say never,” she said.
She also pointed out that intolerance often increases after marriage, with both partners insisting on their rights, which can strain the relationship.
“The wife will be claiming her rights, the husband will do the same. A lot of intolerance dey,” she stated.
The actress advised individuals to focus on what truly makes them happy and to embrace relationships that work for them without unnecessary pressure.
“Do what makes you happy and what works for you. And if you find the person you like, make una just dey,” she added.
Yvonne Jegede was previously married to actor and film producer Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole.
Their marriage, which produced a son, ended in 2019, less than a year after it began.
