Actor Taye Arimoro has formally contested his suspension by the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP).
This follows his recent on-set altercation with actress Peggy Ovire during the filming of “Pieces of Love.”

In a firm legal response issued by his counsel, Inibehe Effiong, the actor described the disciplinary action taken against him as “procedurally flawed, legally baseless, and constitutionally null.”
The letter, addressed to the leadership of all three guilds.
It highlighted several key objections, including alleged misidentification, lack of jurisdiction, and a breach of due process.
Effiong noted that the guilds referred to the actor as “Taiye Ayimoro” instead of his correct name, Taiwo Arimoro.
More importantly, the lawyer stressed that Arimoro is not a registered member of any of the guilds involved—therefore, they lack the authority to penalise him in any form.
According to the letter, the failure to grant Arimoro fair hearing, as well as the refusal to disclose evidence against him, amounted to a violation of his constitutional rights, particularly the right to freedom of association.
“Our client is not a member of the DGN, AGN, or AMP. These bodies have no jurisdiction to discipline or regulate him in any manner whatsoever,” the letter stated. “No association is legally empowered to impose sanctions on individuals who are not its members.”
The actor is demanding a full withdrawal of the suspension, a written apology, and public circulation of the retraction within 24 hours.
He further warned that failure to comply would result in legal action seeking ₦1 billion in damages from the guilds and their presidents.
