Nigerian actress and media personality Ariyike Owolagba, better known as Ariyiike Dimples, has opened up about the reason she stopped attending church for three years.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Open Up Podcast, the actress revealed that she walked away from her community church after a painful incident involving an elder who criticised her outfit.

According to her, the elderly woman told her she would end up in hell simply for wearing a pencil skirt to church
This is a comment she found harsh and deeply judgmental.
Ariyiike Dimples explained that the environment of her community church was already intimidating for young people.
Also, the older members enforces strict doctrines without considering how it affected the youth.
“In my community church, you mostly see elderly people. The young ones had left for other churches because it was too serious,” she said. “Yes, you can have doctrines, but there’s a way to make it welcoming without condemning people.”
The actress recounted that the elder went as far as reporting her to her father.
She had to send a photo of the skirt to her mother to prove it wasn’t indecent.
She added that although her father believed in the idea of a community raising a child, she chose to avoid the church entirely to escape further embarrassment.
