Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has spoken candidly about the distressing experiences she endured as a young female artiste trying to break into the music industry.
The Johnny hitmaker disclosed that sexual harassment was one of the biggest challenges she confronted during her teenage years.

Appearing on a recent episode of the Swift Conversations podcast, Yemi Alade explained that although she entered the industry with nothing but talent and determination.
Also, she soon discovered that many of the opportunities offered to her came with inappropriate conditions.
According to her, music executives repeatedly attempted to take advantage of her during business meetings, studio sessions, and even after award wins.
Furthermore, she recounted instances where senior figures rubbed her thighs under tables during supposed professional engagements.
Yemi Alade emphasised that these experiences left her shocked and questioning whether she should continue pursuing music, especially as the harassment became more frequent and blatant.
Despite the emotional turmoil, she said a strong conviction pushed her to continue showing up and relying on her God-given talent.
Also, she revealed that she eventually learned to stop depending on “doors” opened by others and instead focused on breaking down industry “walls” to create her own path to success.
