The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is eligible to play in Sunday’s African playoff against the Democratic Republic of Congo, ending concerns over a possible suspension.

In a post on the Super Eagles’ official X account on Saturday, November 15, 2025, the team shared CAF’s clarification:
“CAF has confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi is eligible to feature for the Super Eagles in Sunday’s playoff clash against DR Congo.”
“Cautions accumulated during the World Cup qualifiers do not carry over into the playoffs; only confirmed suspensions apply.”
Ndidi, who captained Nigeria in Thursday’s 4–1 semi-final victory over Gabon, was one of the team’s standout performers, delivering a dominant midfield display and assisting Chidera Ejuke’s second goal.
With the Leicester City midfielder now cleared to play, Nigeria will face DR Congo at 8 p.m. Nigerian time in a decisive clash.
The winner will secure Africa’s spot in the intercontinental playoff for a chance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
