Nigerian singer Waje has finally cleared the air on long-standing rumours about her alleged romantic relationship with rapper M.I Abaga, explaining that their connection was purely artistic and not romantic.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Waje revealed that the speculation began after their collaboration on the hit love song “One Naira.”
According to her, the emotional tone and romantic storytelling in the song made fans believe they were in love, but it was all part of the creative direction.
“Because of the rollout and romantic theme of my song with M.I, ‘One Naira,’ a lot of people speculated that we were dating.”
“But we never dated. We were just friends who wanted to tell a great love story through music,” she said.
Waje also disclosed that it was actually M.I’s then-girlfriend who did the voice-over on the track not her.
The singer added that, at this stage in her life, she values genuine connection and wouldn’t settle for an unsuccessful partner just for companionship.
