Nobel Laureate and literary icon, Professor Wole Soyinka, has revealed that the United States government under President Donald Trump has revoked his US visa
This is a move he described as unexpected and unjustified.

Speaking at a press briefing held at Kongi’s Harvest Gallery, Freedom Park, Lagos Island, Soyinka said he was taken aback by the development,.
He noted that he had not committed any offence that could have warranted such an action.
“It is necessary for me to hold this conference so that people in the United States who are expecting me for this event or that event do not waste their time,” he said.
The renowned playwright and academic disclosed that he received a formal notification of the visa withdrawal from the US Consulate.
Also, this confirms that he is now barred from entering the United States.
“I have no visa; I am banned, obviously, from the United States. And if you want to see me, you know where to find me,” Soyinka stated.
Describing the move as a witch-hunt, Soyinka noted that no official reason was provided for the cancellation.
He expressed confusion over the decision
Also, he insisted that he had no criminal record, felony, or misdemeanour that could justify the revocation.
“I’m still looking into my past history. I don’t have any criminal record or even a misdemeanour to qualify for the revocation,” he explained.
The literary icon added that he had begun reflecting on whether any of his previous public statements or actions could have influenced the decision.
“I’ve started looking back—have I ever misbehaved toward the United States of America? Have I gone against the law anywhere?” he questioned.
Wole Soyinka said the development has come as a shock to his global audience
