Veteran Afro-Juju legend, Sir Shina Peters, has revealed the unconventional strategy that helped him regain public sympathy following his controversial exit from Prince Adekunle’s band.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the “Ace” crooner recounted how his decision to go solo triggered massive backlash, with many accusing him of betraying his mentor for financial gain.
According to him, his management and record label devised a dramatic plan to reshape his public image one that involved making him appear mentally unstable to attract empathy.
“People protested against me when I left Prince Adekunle’s band because they believed I left my father figure for money.”
“Then the owner of my record label and some media heads came up with an idea,” he said.
Shina Peters revealed that his team instructed him to braid his hair for three days without loosening it and wear tattered clothes.
They then took him to Oyingbo Market to buy ewedu while secretly recording him.
“I didn’t even know what they were up to,” he added.
The act reportedly continued in Badagry, where he was filmed acting erratically at a Julius Berger construction site, pretending to be mentally unstable and eating in public.
The veteran singer said the publicity stunt eventually worked, changing the public’s perception and helping him win back sympathy as he launched his solo career.
