Music And Esports Lead Growth

According to PwC’s Africa Entertainment and Media Outlook for 2025–2029, revenues grew from $3.7 billion to $4.1 billion.

By 2029, analysts expect total revenues to reach $5.8 billion, confirming Nigeria’s fast-growing market status.

Digital And Mobile Dominance

In addition, mobile and fixed services dominate, rising from $2 billion in 2020 to $3.3 billion in 2024.

This segment should reach $4.7 billion by 2029, maintaining a 7.2% CAGR.

Furthermore, internet advertising and OTT video are thriving, while gaming and esports earned $180 million in 2024.

Experts project gaming revenue to hit $260 million by 2029, highlighting strong growth in digital entertainment.

At the same time, music, radio, and podcasts more than doubled since 2020, reflecting audience engagement.

Although traditional media declines, digital innovation accelerates due to cheaper data and widespread smartphone adoption.

Nigeria’s Rising Influence

Compared with South Africa, Nigeria grows faster, with 107 million internet users driving digital consumption.

Gaming alone earned $176 million in 2024, signalling that Nigeria’s entertainment market is rapidly evolving.

Overall, from music streaming to competitive gaming, Nigeria sets the rhythm for Africa’s digital future.
