Early today, a major Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage paused the internet for millions worldwide.
The disruption began at 12:11 a.m. PDT (8:11 a.m. BST), and it immediately affected popular apps.

For instance, Reddit, Snapchat, Venmo, Ring, Pokémon GO, and Amazon Alexa all experienced access problems.
Quick Response By Amazon Web Services
AWS engineers quickly traced the outage to its DynamoDB endpoint, a critical database service powering many operations.
Then, at 2:22 a.m. PDT (10:22 a.m. BST), they deployed a fix, which started the gradual recovery.
However, some services, including Ring and Chime, still experience intermittent issues as engineers work through them.

Wider Impact And Dependence
Moreover, Downdetector recorded over 50,000 outage reports across the U.S., U.K., and other regions.
The incident highlights how daily life increasingly relies on cloud infrastructure and interconnected services.
According to IT expert Jide Awe, “When Amazon Web Services sneezes, the internet immediately feels the impact worldwide.”
Currently, AWS engineers continue monitoring systems closely, assuring users that stability improves steadily hour by hour.
