Early Sunday, the internet shuddered when Amazon Web Services (AWS) faced a major disruption.
ChatGPT, Snapchat, Reddit, Fortnite, and even Amazon suddenly stopped working.

Millions noticed their apps freezing or refusing to load.

Soon after, AWS confirmed problems in its busy US-EAST-1 region.
It reported “increased error rates and latencies” across several services.
The company traced the trouble to DNS faults in its DynamoDB API, which then triggered wider failures.

At 3:11 a.m. ET, AWS engineers launched their investigation and began fixing the issue.
Two hours later, they announced “significant signs of recovery,” though users still faced delays.
Meanwhile, teams continued clearing the backlog and promised fresh updates “within 45 minutes or sooner.”
Warning For Snapchat Users & The Cloud Age
Although systems started to recover, AWS has not yet revealed the exact cause.
The same region has failed before.
Outages in 2020, 2021, and 2023 caused similar chaos.
Once again, the incident shows how tightly the world’s digital life depends on AWS.
When it stumbles, the internet shakes.
