The Lagos State Government has responded to the recent allegations made by Nollywood actress Sarah Martins.
She accused officers of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) of harassment and assault during a public encounter in Lagos.

Sarah Martins had taken to her Instagram page to allege that the KAI officers assaulted her while she was cooking outdoors as part of a community outreach programme aimed at feeding residents.
In a statement released on Friday, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, defended the KAI operatives.
He clarifies that the actress’s actions violated the state’s environmental and sanitation laws.
Wahab noted that although the government appreciates citizens who engage in charitable activities, such initiatives must comply with existing environmental and public safety regulations.
“The individual in question claimed to be conducting charitable cooking activities on a road median, which unfortunately contravenes environmental and sanitation regulations,” the commissioner said.
He added that while the spirit of philanthropy and community support is commendable, it must be carried out in line with Lagos State’s extant laws
This is to ensure public safety, protect the environment, and maintain urban order.
Wahab explained that the enforcement action by the KAI officers was necessary to prevent potential safety hazards, traffic obstructions, and unsanitary conditions in public spaces.
He further urged Lagos residents to seek proper authorisation before carrying out similar public initiatives.
Also, he emphasisies that all activities within the state must align with environmental and safety standards.
“Lagosians are encouraged to use designated spaces or seek necessary approvals for such activities so they can operate within the law,” he added.
The commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
