England forward Marcus Rashford has attributed his struggles with consistency to the “inconsistent environment” he experienced during his time at Manchester United.

The 27-year-old, who joined Barcelona in the summer, has made an impressive start in Spain scoring three goals and providing five assists in just 10 appearances.

His fine form has earned him a regular spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad ahead of next summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to ITV ahead of England’s qualifier against Latvia, Rashford responded to Tuchel’s comment that consistency was the key to unlocking his world-class potential.

“For sure, consistency is a massive part of it,” Rashford said. “I feel like I have been in an inconsistent environment for a very long time, so it is even more difficult to be consistent.

“But I completely agree consistency is what I need to bring into my game. I want to be at my best, not sometimes, but as often as possible.

“When people talk about consistency, in order to be consistent in anything not just sport you need consistent variables in your life and training.”

“We’ve just had so many changes so far in my career, but I have to look forward. That’s definitely something I want to improve on to be at my best more often.”

“When I am at my best, I really enjoy everything about the sport.”
