The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed severe sanctions on Kano Pillars

The sanctions includes a ₦9.5 million fine, a three-point deduction, and a three-goal deduction.

This follows violent conduct by their supporters during a home fixture against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) on Sunday, October 12, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

The match ended 1–1, turned chaotic after fans of Kano Pillars stormed the pitch, attacking match officials, players, and staff of Shooting Stars in reaction to a stoppage-time equaliser by Adams Mustapha that cancelled out Mustapha Jibrin’s early goal.

In a Summary Jurisdiction Notice issued on October 13 and signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, the league found Kano Pillars guilty of several breaches.

Also, this includes inadequate security, misconduct of supporters, throwing dangerous objects, and assaulting visiting team members and officials.

The NPFL stated that the club failed to provide effective security, allowing unauthorised persons to invade restricted areas.

Also, failed to control their supporters, whose actions resulted in harassment and physical attacks.

As a result, Kano Pillars have been docked three points and three goals from their accrued total, in addition to the ₦9.5 million fine, as punishment for the violent incident.
