Olorogun Oskar Eyovbirere Ibru, billionaire businessman and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, has died at the age of 67.
His family confirmed his passing on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, noting that it followed a brief illness.

Oskar Ibru was the eldest son of the late Michael Ibru, founder of the Ibru Organisation, a conglomerate with major investments in shipping, oil and gas, real estate, agriculture, and commerce.
Under his leadership, the group continued to thrive as one of Nigeria’s most influential family-owned business empires.
Beyond the boardroom, Oskar Ibru was a philanthropist and cultural advocate.
He served as chairman of the Dream Child Foundation, an NGO that uses music and cultural initiatives to empower African children.
In recognition of his contributions, he was conferred with an honorary doctorate by Igbinedion University in 2017.
He also held traditional and honorary titles, including Otunba Boyejo of Ijebu Kingdom.
His wife, Wanda Ibru, curator of the Ijebu National Museum, survives him.
Their three children Makashe Ibru-Awogboro, Chris Ibru, and Nenesi Ibru-Okeke also survive him
Business leaders, politicians, and cultural figures have paid tribute.
They described him as a visionary industrialist who upheld the Ibru family legacy.
The family will announce funeral arrangements in the coming days.
