Following the release of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 finale, Prime Video has confirmed that Belly and Conrad’s story isn’t over yet.
Instead of another season, the fan-favourite romantic drama will return for a feature-length film that will serve as the final chapter of Jenny Han’s beloved trilogy.

The announcement came just hours after the season 3 finale dropped on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Author and showrunner Jenny Han shared her excitement about bringing Belly’s journey to a cinematic close:
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
Jenny Han will both direct and co-write the film alongside Sarah Kucserka.
This is to ensures the movie stays true to the heart of the original novels.
Season 3 Recap: Love, Heartbreak, and a Choice Made
Season 3 wrapped up an emotional 11-episode run filled with love triangles, heartbreak, and self-discovery.
In the finale, At Last, Belly (Lola Tung) finally chose Conrad (Christopher Briney) after years of complicated emotions and her four-year-long romance with his younger brother Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).
The closing scenes showed Belly and Conrad returning to Cousins Beach, hinting at new beginnings.
A nostalgic voiceover reminded fans: “And just as it always had, the beach house held a million promises of summer. And what just might be.”
However, some viewers pointed out that the show skipped Belly’s wedding, which was featured in the epilogue of Jenny Han’s third book, We’ll Always Have Summer.
This omission has fuelled speculation that the upcoming movie may centre around a wedding at Cousins Beach.
When Will The Summer I Turned Pretty Movie Be Released?
As of now, Prime Video has not confirmed a release date.
Since the project was only recently greenlit, the film is still in early development.
Jenny Han will first complete the script before production begins.
However, fans are hopeful that the wait won’t be as long as the two-year gap between seasons 2 and 3.
