The Rivers State House of Assembly has officially resumed plenary after being suspended for six months during the State of Emergency.
Led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, lawmakers reconvened this morning, 18 September.
The plenary is holding at the Assembly Residential Complex along the Aba–Port Harcourt Expressway.

It will be recalled that on March 18, 2025, President Bola Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State.
This lead to the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and members of the Assembly.
As the Rivers State House Of Assembly returned to legislative business, a large crowd of supporters gathered at the Government House.
They are eagerly awaiting the governor’s reinstatement and return to office.
