In a landmark moment for Nigeria’s transport sector, Bolt has overtaken global rivals Uber and inDrive to become the country’s most downloaded travel and mobility app, cementing its dominance in one of Africa’s fastest-growing mobility markets.

According to digital intelligence firm Sensor Tower, Bolt now leads Nigeria’s mobility sector.
This ranking highlights how millions of Nigerians rely on the platform for affordable and reliable transport.
Rapid Expansion Across Cities
Bolt serves over 200 million customers across more than 50 countries.
When it first entered Nigeria in 2016 as Taxify, it launched in Lagos and quickly expanded its presence.
Since then, the company has grown to operate in 33 cities nationwide, consistently offering commuters a dependable alternative to traditional transport options.
The latest figures place Bolt ahead of Uber and inDrive, thereby reinforcing its leadership in one of Africa’s largest mobility markets.
General Manager of Bolt Nigeria, Osi Oguah, said: “Nigeria is one of 23 countries where Bolt ranks number one in app downloads within the travel and mobility category.
We are pleased that Nigerians are enjoying Bolt, but we still see room to grow.
