Social commentator and governance advocate Bello Galadanci, popularly known as Dan Bello, has ignited heated discussions after criticising Chef Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record attempt for the largest pot of Jollof rice.
He dismissed the highly publicised cook-a-thon.

He stated that it serves as a distraction from Nigeria’s pressing development challenges.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, he wrote satirically:
“Nigeria has finally found its destiny, not in science, not in technology, but in a steaming pot of Guinness-certified rice.”
He further argued that while other nations push boundaries in artificial intelligence, space exploration, and infrastructure, Nigerians appear content celebrating “a giant pot of rice.”
Dan Bello also accused the government of being unsettled, not by the cooking itself but because the meal was freely distributed to ordinary citizens.
In his words:
“Hunger is the only local content Nigeria has perfected.”
