South African Airways (SAA) will expand its operations across key routes during the upcoming festive season as it moves to meet growing demand.

Increased Regional Connections
Beginning October 1, 2025, the airline will increase flights between Johannesburg and Lagos by adding two new weekly services on Mondays and Tuesdays. From October 6, the route will operate six times each week.
At the same time, SAA will also boost the Johannesburg–Accra schedule to six weekly flights by introducing new services on Wednesdays and Fridays.
New São Paulo Services
Then, in December, the expansion will continue. Starting December 10, 2025, SAA will add two extra flights from Johannesburg to São Paulo, operating on Wednesdays and Sundays, which will raise the service to four weekly flights.
These additional services will remain in place until February 11, 2026, giving travellers more options during the busiest travel window of the year.

Meeting Festive Travel Demand
Meanwhile, the airline is also targeting peak demand around family reunions, year-end business travel and major cultural celebrations such as Detty December in Nigeria, AfroFuture in Ghana and the build-up to Brazil’s Carnival.
Commenting on the uplift, SAA’s Chief Commercial Officer, Tebogo Tsimane, said: “South African Airways is strengthening its network with more flights, more frequencies, and more opportunities to connect Africa to the world.
We are aiming higher to serve our customers better this festive season.”
To enhance the travel experience, SAA now offers transparent, all-inclusive fares, Voyager miles on every journey, business class comfort, premium lounge access, direct connections and warm African hospitality onboard.
Through these moves, SAA strengthens Africa’s connections to the world while giving travellers greater choice, flexibility and convenience during the festive season.
