Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has completed a move to Celtic on a free transfer following the termination of his contract at Sevilla.

The 28-year-old was in talks with Brendan Rodgers’ side on Monday, September 1, 2025, but could not finalize the deal before the deadline. His transfer was eventually confirmed at 11:06 pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Rodgers, who previously managed Iheanacho at Leicester City, expressed delight at being reunited with the Nigerian striker.
“I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to the team. He is such a talented player, with great ability, athleticism and work-rate. I believe he will love being at Celtic, and I am sure our fans will love what he brings,” Rodgers said.
Iheanacho arrives in Scotland with vast experience, having played in England, Spain, and across Europe.
He broke through at Manchester City, where he won the League Cup in 2016, before moving to Leicester City in 2017 for a then-record £25 million fee for a Nigerian player.
At Leicester, he played a crucial role in their 2021 FA Cup triumph and scored the winning penalty in the Community Shield against his former club, Manchester City.
