Ebonyi State has launched a determined push to reclaim revenues that slipped away for more than two decades.

On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Chief Ikeuwa Omebeh, briefed newsmen after the State Executive Council meeting, which Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru chaired.

Ebonyi State has launched a determined push to reclaim revenues that slipped away for more than two decades.

To begin with, the government traced its claim to the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG).

Since January 1999, Ebonyi has held shares in the company, yet successive administrations failed to reconcile or receive the dividends due.

Therefore, the council engaged TIARAS White Consult Limited to review the accounts, reconcile figures, and recover the funds.

The consultancy will take a 15% commission from whatever it brings back, after the council raised the fee from the earlier 10%.

Omebeh stressed the urgency of the task: “We must reconcile all outstanding entitlements and recover what belongs to Ebonyi from 1999 to date.”

Focus On Healthcare Infrastructure

Meanwhile, the council shifted its focus to healthcare.

It approved the construction of an ultra-modern clinic within Government House for ₦3.51 billion.

The facility will not only serve as an emergency unit for state officials but also showcase cutting-edge medical technology.

Expanding Medical Access

In addition, the government moved to broaden healthcare access by purchasing Pentecost Foundation Hospital in Ezzamgbo.

For ₦250 million, the state will take over the hospital’s equipment and staff, integrating them into its health system.

Through these decisions, Ebonyi is reclaiming its economic rights while simultaneously investing in the wellbeing of its people—two steps that officials say will secure the state’s future.
