The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, September 5, 2025.
This is a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Mawlid, the annual celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior, the government called on Muslims across the nation and around the world to use the occasion to reflect deeply on the Prophet’s exemplary life and enduring virtues.
This include peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.
The statement further urged Nigerians of all faiths to embrace these values in their daily lives.
He stressed that they remain essential for strengthening national unity and building a society rooted in justice, fairness, and mutual respect.
Beyond encouraging reflection, the Federal Government also appealed to citizens to dedicate time during the celebration to pray for peace, security, and accelerated national development.
