Actress and content creator Juliana Olayode has sparked conversations online after expressing her concerns about the skyrocketing cost of Aso-ebi at Nigerian weddings.
In a video shared via Instagram on Sunday, Juliana Olayode wondered why couples insist on selling Aso-ebi at such outrageous prices instead of making it more affordable for their guests.

“Good evening, folks, happy Saturday to you. To those getting married, why is your Aso-ebi so expensive? You need to start picking colours because we already have all the colours – ombre, onion red, pink, purple. How can you be selling your Aso-ebi for ₦500,000 for just three yards? After spending that much, you still expect us to spray money at the party. And the worst part is, these clothes can’t even be worn after the wedding. Why not make it ₦20,000 or ₦25,000 so we can sew lovely styles? What’s wrong with that?” she asked.
She went on to highlight the struggles guests face at these events despite the huge spending.
According to her, weddings have become unnecessarily stressful for attendees.
“People get married every other day, so why can’t we make it easy for people to attend? Or is it that the money from the Aso-ebi is what you want to use to fund the wedding? When you finally get there, there are no seats, and everywhere is filled with content creators. What is it really?” she added.
Concluding her remarks, Juliana told couples to be considerate of their guests and make a choice between expensive Aso-ebi or monetary spraying.

“Then you expect them to spray you. For what? You need to pick one – either your Aso-ebi or the spraying. Aso-ebi doesn’t have to be that expensive. Make the price reasonable. We want to celebrate with you, not get tired,” she said.
