Nigerian singer Brymo has openly criticised A-list Afrobeats stars, including Burna Boy, Davido, and others, for what he describes as the “vile” practice of jumping on remixes of hit songs by rising acts.
According to him, the trend is less about supporting new talent and more about mainstream artistes seeking relevance by leveraging the buzz of younger musicians.

Taking to his Instagram story, Brymo urged top stars to allow emerging artistes to grow organically, rather than overshadowing them with remix collaborations.
Also, he argued that the practice, often disguised as support, hinders up-and-coming talents from developing their own unique sound and identity.
“Dear Nigerian mainstream ‘A-listers,’ Burna [Boy], Davido and Co, stop jumping on every hit song in a remix, especially releases by newer acts. Let other artistes find their own way. The pretending to be helping them reach higher is a ridiculous watch. Stop seeking relevance in the efforts of ones who know little about the business. It’s vile!” he wrote.
